Heather Wilson has been named the Cameron Art Museum’s new executive director by the museum’s board of trustees.
Since the retirement of Anne Brennan, Wilson has been leading the institution in an interim role.
Wilson has been an integral part of Cameron Art Museum’s leadership operations since 2006 when she was hired as a development officer. In 2019, Wilson was promoted to deputy director.
Wilson holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she co-founded the nationally known literary journal, “Ecotone.” She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where she graduated with highest honors.
Wilson was recognized by the YWCA as a Woman of Achievement Winner in the arts category.
Cranfill Sumner welcomes two new attorneys
Cranfill Sumner LLP recently announced the hiring of C. Andrew Dandison and Maxwell Shafer to the firm’s Wilmington office.
Dandison joined as an attorney and will focus on construction law, premises liability law, transportation law, and admiralty and maritime law.
He has represented corporations, businesses, and individuals in all aspects of litigation throughout North and South Carolina state courts, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and federal court.
Dandison received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University, a master’s degree from the University of Louisville, and his Doctor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University.
Shafer joined as an associate attorney and will focus on the civil litigation practice group handling admiralty and construction law matters.
He represented clients in motor vehicle negligence, premises liability, products liability, wrongful death, and construction matters.
Shafer received his law degree from William & Mary Law School and his undergraduate degree from Pensacola Christian College. During law school, he was a member of the agricultural law society, a group mentor for first-year law students, and an associate justice on the William & Mary Honor Council.
Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners adds two brokers
Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners welcomes David Summerlin III and Scott Serkin to its brokerage team.
Summerlin specializes in land in Brunswick County that is in the path of upcoming development. He has extensive experience in agriculture and in the development of recreational/sporting properties.
A native of North Carolina, Summerlin attended Louisburg College and Campbell University.
David, his wife and their two sons and two daughters live in southern Brunswick County, where they love spending as much time around the water as possible.
In 2020, Summerlin began to assist his father-in-law in managing Jerome’s Steak & Seafood in Shallotte, continuing his wife’s family’s legacy of 45 consecutive years.
Serkin’s focuses on general brokerage and leasing and is committed to providing helpful insight and outstanding service in his transactions. He has a keen interest in regional history, especially as it relates to Wilmington’s buildings and architecture.
He is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and Gonzaga University, holding degrees in communication and leadership.
Serkin spent 20 years serving as a commissioned officer on active duty in the United States Air Force. He was an instructor on multiple aircraft and flew combat missions during Operations Enduring Freedom (the war in Afghanistan and the larger-scale global war on terrorism), and Operation Inherent Resolve (international military intervention against the Islamic State).
Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage welcomes seven agents
Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage recently welcomed seven new agents to different offices in the Wilmington area. James Adams, Skip Lennon, Tyler Pappas, Clair Pridgen and Jena Romanesk joined the Autumn Hall office. Joining the Hampstead office are Emmanuel Castañeda and Dawn Dec.
Adams spent 10 years working in municipal parks and recreation management. He volunteers his time with the home repair ministry at Scotts Hill Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoys kayaking, cycling, and visiting local breweries.
Castañeda worked in law enforcement for the U.S. Air Force for eight years and earned a degree in criminal justice during that time.
Dec’s background in sales and corporate marketing has prepared her well to provide service to her clients. Dec has a passion for real estate, negotiating and helping people. She volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, as well as making time to support community and social events in the Parkway Crossing neighborhood of Brunswick Forest.
Lennon has lived in Wilmington for 30 years. He is affiliated with Sandy Monroe & Associates, a longtime, top-producing Wilmington real estate team. Lennon has worked in the fitness industry for over 30 years and looks forward to engaging the same determination, discipline, and drive in his new career.
Pappas background in marketing, social media management, and the service industry has well prepared Pappasr for supporting his clients’ needs. He previously resided in Seattle, working in kids’ ministry. Pappas is now active with the Port City Church.
Pridgen was born and raised in Wilmington, as were her parents. She has spent her entire working life in customer service. Pridgen has a history of volunteering her time with church mission trips. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her animals, friends, and family.
With work experience in both the service and mortgage industries, Romanesk is well versed in providing excellent support to her clients. She has lived in Mayfaire for 10 years, providing her with vast knowledge of the Wilmington area. Romanesk enjoys the beach, exercise, and anything that has to do with being outdoors.
