Matt Dugan announced a three-pronged plan to address the high concentration of crime he intends to employ if elected as district attorney.Dugan wants to create a magisterial court, designated for the Downtown area, with a team of attorneys assigned to cases in the district.A community engagement strategy is also part of the plan, which entails quarterly meetings with business owners and residents.”It will target open-air drug transactions, the open-air use of needles and injected narcotics, threatening and assaulting behavior, and all violent crime,” Dugan said.He also says he intends to work proactively with the mayor and county executive on a crime prevention strategy as well.”The moral responsibility and the legal responsibility of the district attorney to use that platform, to use that position to think differently about how we invest in strategies to prevent the likelihood of crime and prevent the likelihood that people come back to the system once they’re in it,” Dugan said.
